With the title alone I think I’ll have few more hits on this one than the average hehe. I learn it from those tabloid guys who sensationalize headlines but when you read the whole story its all crap. I’m not saying that this post is a crap, I’ve read more crappier (is there such a word as crappier?)  post than this one, and the weblog has all the crappiest post the world has to offer.

No pun intended, im talking about Jesus and Arvin, two good friends, they're at the studio last Saturday for a workshop and between breaks we had, as usual, the craziest conversation as ever.

Jesus Genotiva, or Jess or Jessy Boy as we call him, a self-proclaimed chick boy (pwede sa chicks pwede sa boy?), has been busy as a bee lately finishing one exhibit after the other, the most recent is his 3rd solo effort at the CCP entitled “Laman-loob” which unfortunately (fortunately?) I missed. He’s preparing again for Ateneo and a Japan exhibit (sama ko man!) and he’s busy cooking din daw haha… Jess cooks one of the meanest laing my tongue has laid upon, mean enough to send mothers giggling in sheer delight! Naks!

The Alien, Neil Arvin Javier! Wonder how he got his monicker? Read his name backwards dropping ‘rvin’ and woohlaa! you got Alien! Galing no! Fresh from Davao (amoy durian pa nga eh hehe) this art educator slash trasher slash grafitti artist par excellence, like Jess has been hopping from one place to another, joining exhibit after exhibit. He’ now sporting a semi-mohawk hair and recently acquired a ‘Santa Skull’ tattoo, ‘umpisa pa lang daw yun’ he said, lets see what will happen.

Too bad I have to buckle-up for work again, an hour is not enough for a good conversation, so after exchanging pleasantries and mp3’s we’re off to where we are before… work.

Its always a whacky day with these two around, if only Luis, Dang, Rica and Maye would also be around, good times will roll once more. See you guys around!

We Filipinos Are Mild Drinkers

Stumble upon this short story by National Artist for Literature Alejandro Roces (it's pretty long but trust me its a short story) on a book titled 'Panorama of World Literature for Filipinos',  i find this story amusing and funny at times. We may call the humor of Alejandro Roces as humor of exaggeration, the funny situations are laugh-provoking because they are... well... exaggerated hehe sometimes satirical. He wrote 'We Filipinos...' as a student of Arizona University and was first published in The Arizona Quarterly, i think it won him an award in literature from that university. So if you have a minute to spare read on. Happy reading!   We Filipinos are Mild Drinkers by Alejandro R. Roces WE Filipinos are mild drinkers. We drink for only three good reasons. We drink when we are very happy. We drink when we are very sad. And we drink for any other reason. When the Americans recaptured the Philippines, they built an air base a few miles from our barrio. Yanke...

Upakan
